The film will be distributed by TOHO and released in theaters throughout Japan on August 18. The Sand Land manga is a brief series that Toriyama published in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine from May to August 2000. Shueisha released one compiled book volume of the manga in November 2000.

Toriyama’s first serialized manga was “Dr. Slump,” which he began in 1980 and later inspired two television anime series and several movies. He followed up with “Dragon Ball,” which ran from 1984 to 1995 and continues to inspire manga and anime sequels and spinoffs to this day. Toriyama is also well-known as the character designer for the Dragon Quest, Chrono Trigger, and Blue Dragon games.
