Demon Lord 2099 Light Novel Gets TV Anime

At AnimeJapan 2023’s stage event on Saturday, Aniplex announced that they will be producing an anime adaptation of the light novel series Demon Lord 2099 (Maou 2099) by author Daigo Murasaki and illustrator Kureta. While Aniplex unveiled a key visual for the upcoming anime, no further details were revealed.

The first novel volume of Demon Lord 2099, written by Daigo Murasaki and illustrated by Kureta, was released under Kadokawa in January 2021, followed by the second volume in April 2021. Yen Press released the English version of the second volume in June 2022.

Story

Fused Era Year 2099—Shinjuku. The dazzling prosperity of this massive city-state conceals a lurid darkness just beneath its surface. It is here—in this megalopolis that represents the pinnacle of human development—where the legendary Demon Lord Veltol makes his second coming. To rule this brave new world, he will have to take hold of the future for himself!

Additionally, Kiiro Akashiro is in charge of drawing a manga adaptation of the novels, which is being serialized on Kadokawa’s Shōnen Ace+ website.
