I’m in Love with the Villainess TV Anime Cast, Trailer Reveals for October

On Friday, the official website for the TV anime adaptation of the light novel series “I’m in Love with the Villainess” by Inori, released the anime’s first promotional video, along with additional cast members, a key visual, and the announcement of an October premiere.

Story

Ordinary office worker Oohashi Rei wakes up in the body of the protagonist of her favorite otome game, Revolution. To her delight, the first person to greet her is also her favorite character, Claire Francois–the main antagonist of the story! Now, Rei is determined to romance Claire instead of the game’s male leads. But how will her villainous lady love react to this new courtship?!

Staff

The anime will be directed by Hideaki Oba, known for his work on “Love of Kill”, and produced by Platinum Vision. Ayumu Hisao, who has previously worked on “Love of Kill” and “Devils’ Line”, will be responsible for both writing and overseeing the series scripts. Youko Satou, who has worked on shows such as “7SEEDS” and “Saiyuki Reload Blast”, will adapt AONOSHIMO and Hanagata’s character designs for animation. The sound direction will be handled by Hajime Takakuwa, while the music will be composed by Noriyuki Asakura and Usagi to Uma.

The novel series by Inori was first published on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in January 2018. The story was later published as digital volumes by GL Bunko, with the first volume being released in February 2019, and the fifth and final volume in August 2021. The illustrations for the novels were done by Hanagata. In June 2020, a manga adaptation of the series was launched in Ichijinsha’s Comic Yuri Hime magazine, with illustrations by AONOSHIMO. The manga is also available in English through Seven Seas Entertainment.

In addition to the main series, Inori also wrote a spinoff story titled “Heimin no Kuse ni Namaikina!” which was published on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in May 2021 and ended in October 2021. GL Bunko released the spinoff as a digital novel volume in February 2022, and it was also published in English by Seven Seas Entertainment under the title “I’m in Love with the Villainess Spin-Off: She’s so Cheeky for a Commoner.”
