In September 2022, Ayana Hanzawa, a 25-year-old former class principal (Teacher), was arrested for allegedly adding bleach to a pot of curry that was meant to be served to sixth graders during lunchtime. Japanese Teacher Mixed Bleach into Student’s Food
A former teacher, aged 25, who was unemployed at the time, was charged with forcible obstruction of business for adding bleach to the curry served during school lunch at Mizutani Higashi Elementary School in Fujimi City, Saitama Prefecture in September of last year.
The trial for the accused, who resides in Machi 5-chome, was held on the 10th of this month at the Saitama District Court, presided over by Judge Maki Kuroda. During the trial, the accused admitted to the indictment by stating, “There is no doubt.” The prosecution demanded a two-year prison sentence, while the defense requested a suspended sentence. The trial concluded on the same day, and the verdict is set to be announced on the 27th.
The prosecution stated that the woman was not allowed to take charge of the school year she had been in charge of for two years. explained. She pointed out that she thought, “I don’t want people making happy memories without me.”
Based on the indictment and other records, on September 15, 2018, the accused woman added kitchen bleach to a can of curry intended for sixth-grade students’ school lunch, in the dining room of an elementary school. She then requested other teachers to check the safety of the remaining cans. This action was considered an interference with the execution of business. Fortunately, the children who were serving the meals detected the unusual smell, and no harm was caused to their health. The accused was subsequently terminated from her position in January of this year.
