Recently, it was announced that a maid-themed version of the life-size Elaine Yawaraka figure will be released. Elaine is an original character designed by illustrator Tony Taka, who is best known for his work as a character designer for Sega’s Shining series of fantasy RPGs. The character of Elaine originally appeared in Elf Complex, a piece that was published in Tony Magazine, a self-published doujinshi by the artist.

As illustrated by the hand in the above photograph, which is wearing a polite glove, the exposed areas of the Elaine figure’s skin, except for the head, are covered with a supple and gentle material. Additionally, the designers claim that the degree of softness varies depending on the specific part of the body.
This updated design is a life-sized version of a previously available 1:7 scale Elaine figure. It stands at 180 centimeters (5 feet, 10.9 inches) tall, which is considerably taller than the average height of Japanese women. This height is appropriate, however, as Elaine is an elf, a mythical species known for their lengthy proportions. Although the product description doesn’t mention it explicitly, the craftsmanship displayed in the character’s hair is incredibly impressive, with the locks appearing to be playfully swaying in the accompanying wind that always follows elves.
The critical question, of course, is the price of the Elaine Yawaraka Maid Version. Well, it is priced at 4,378,000 yen (US$33,420), which is the equivalent of the “million-yen question.”
