The series was set to End on Volume 17, But Kugane Maruyama revealed on January 4, 2022, that his draft on the new arc about the elf “The Half-Elf God-Kin” surpassed 700 pages. Because of that, he had to make two more Volumes (15 and 16). The Volume was released within one month difference (June 30 and July 29).
Kugane Maruyama said in Volume 16, “I hope you follow [the series] a little bit longer.” he states that he “hopes the final two volumes will be published in a short period.“
Overlord is a Japanese light novel series written by Kugane Maruyama and illustrated by so-bin. It began serialization online in 2010 before being acquired by Enterbrain. Sixteen volumes have been published since July 2012. A manga adaptation by Satoshi Ōshio, with art by Hugin Miyama, began serialization in Kadokawa Shoten’s manga magazine Comp Ace on November 26, 2014.
The novel has been adapted into an anime television series adaptation by Studio Madhouse. The first season aired in July 2015. The second season ran from January 2018, the third season ran from July 2018, and the fourth season premiered in July 2022. An anime film has been announced.
