During the AnimeJapan 2023 event, a stage presentation unveiled a new trailer for an upcoming anime film project based on Hajime Kamoshida’s Seishun Buta Yarō light novel series. The project will consist of two films, with the first one titled Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out. The trailer offers a sneak peek into the movie, and it was announced that it will hit Japanese theaters on June 23.

The sequel anime project will be an adaptation of the eighth and ninth novels in the Seishun Buta Yarō franchise.
The production team will include Sōichi Masui as director, Masahiro Yokotani as the scriptwriter, and Satomi Tamura as the character designer. All three of them have worked on the previous installments of the series.
Seishun Buta Yarō wa Bunny Girl-senpai no Yume wo Minai (Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai), the television anime that premiered in October 2018, was based on the same light novel series and had a run of 13 episodes. The series was streamed by Aniplex of America on services like Crunchyroll and Funimation.
In June 2019, the anime film Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl (Seishun Buta Yarō wa Yume-Miru Shōjo no Yume wo Minai) was released in Japan. This film was an adaptation of the sixth and seventh light novel volumes in the franchise and was screened by Aniplex of America and Funimation Films in the United States.
